Starting My Project

The importance of this blog post is that it explains what brief I have chosen and what my current knowledge of different genre's are.

Starting my project I have taken a look at the selection of examiner briefs to see what my project will be. Having looked through all of them I have settled on doing the very first brief which is:

"A promotional package for a new film, to include a trailer, together with two of the following three options:

- A website front page

- A film magazine front page, featuring the film

- A poster for the film"

So after choosing my brief, I now have to choose a genre of film that I want to make a trailer about.For instance there are many different genres of film to choose from.

These are some of the genres that film's is now categorise into. Each genre contains a certain characteristic in which make it a genre. For example:

Action films tend to be full of:

-Big stunts

-High speed chases

-Elaborate escapes

-Daring rescues

-Fast paced

-Designed purely for escapism.

Comedy films tend to be full of:

-Light hearted storylines

-Deliberate puns to make you laugh

-Exaggerated situations

-Exaggerate characters and relationships

-Exaggerate actions

Horror films tend to be full of:

-Jump scares

-Thing that people fear

-Spooky settings

-Sometimes lots of blood

-Shocking conclusions

Science Fiction films tend to be full of:

- Extraterrestrial beings

-Distant planets

-Spaceships

-Futuristic technology

-Impossible quests

What I have learned from this post is that I know the brief I want to pursue and also that I have some knowledge on different film genres.

However to be more successful in making my trailer I need to choose a genre and do some research on it.
