This blog post is important as it shows the steps I took to make my film poster.
- Using photoshop, I rasterize the text so I was able to add effects to it. I added a Drop Shadow effect to the text and upped the 'noise' effect to make the shadow grainy.
- After adding a Drop Shadow, I added an Inner and Outer Glow effect to make the text have an eerie glow that was similar to the glow surrounding the female ghost.
- After step two, I felt that the picture still looked too colourful compared to some of the horror themed posters I have seen. So I decided that I would combined the new layers together and copy it. I then turned the copy layer black and white, to see if it gave my poster the desired effect. It looked a little plain and not very interesting so I decided to turn the opacity of the black and white layer down so that some colour still seeped through from the base layer. The outcome creating a dark ebbing edge to the photo and giving the embraced character's some colour as well as the redish glow around the female ghost.
- Finally I add the Columbia Pictures logo and some production credits to complete my poster.
